Assistant Provost and Executive Director
Adam Sheldon is the Assistant Provost and (founding) Executive Director of the Division of Community Learning where he oversees the development and management of BW’s community-based learning initiatives on- and off-campus. Prior to being appointed to this role, Adam served as the Director of the BW Community Arts School where he led the efforts to diversify the former BW Community Music School into three additional discipline areas (dance, theatre and visual art), triple the school’s enrollment and expand BW’s footprint into a new facility equipped and renovated for this additional programming.
Prior to BW, Adam was the Operations and Finance Manager for the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture in Cleveland. In this role, he led the national Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute, assisted with the Creative Workforce Fellowship program, provided technical assistance to artists and arts-related organizations while overseeing the financial and human resource operations of the organization. In tandem with this position, he served as the Executive Director of SMART360, a comprehensive music and literacy program for students grades one to four in the Akron Public School System. For this work, Adam was awarded the Education Impact Award from Peg’s Foundation (previously known as the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation) and the Volunteer of the Year award by the Superintendent of Akron Public Schools.
Adam holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Music Education degree with an emphasis in arts management from Baldwin Wallace University. He continues to stay professionally involved both regionally and nationally as a member of the National Guild for Community Arts Education, the Higher Education Protection Network, the American Camp Association and the Cleveland Arts Education Consortium
