Brian Schmidt

Basketball Coach

Brian Schmidt finished his ninth season and third as Associate Head Coach at Baldwin Wallace University in 2022-23. He served the previous six seasons as an assistant coach.

During this time, Schmidt has coached on six consecutive winning seasons with an overall record of 102-62 and a 61-47 mark in the OAC while winning the 2019 OAC Tournament Championship. The team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2019. Schmidt has mentored 25 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selections, 19 All-OAC performers, the OAC Jim Burson Defensive Player of the Year and the OAC Co-Freshman of the Year.

Previously, Schmidt served as assistant varsity coach and strength and conditioning coach at Brunswick High School with Athletic Alumni Association Hall of Famer Joe Mackey for five years.

Schmidt was a four-year starter and two-year team captain at Heidelberg University where he individually earned All-OAC honors in both 2007 and 2008. He and his wife Halle, a 2008 BW graduate reside in Brunswick with their sons, Griffin and Carson.
