Swimming Coach
Laura Demaline enters her 13th season as head swimming and diving coach at Baldwin Wallace University in 2023-24. In addition, she serves as the Assistant Coordinator of Student-Athlete Services and Co-Moderator for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
During her tenure, Demaline has coached 31 Ohio Athletic Conference champions, five OAC Divers of the Year, 83 All-OAC performers, eight All-OAC relay teams, four national qualifiers, three NCAA Division III All-Americans, 29 OAC Swimmers/Divers of the Week, 29 Academic All-OAC student-athletes and two Academic All-Americans. In addition, 57 school-records and four OAC records have been established in her 12 seasons.
Demaline came to BW after serving as the coach of the Lake Shore Swim Club in Rocky River from 2009-11. While there, LSSC had the most qualifiers for the Ohio High School State Championship Meet of any club program in the area. Lake Shore had multiple sectional qualifiers in both individual and relay events and placed two swimmers at the Speedo Junior National Championship Meet.
Previously, Demaline was a volunteer assistant men’s swim coach at OSU during the 2008-09 season. She also served as the head men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach at NCAA Division I Canisius (N.Y.) College from 2004-08. While at Canisius, her team set 41 school records and had its best finish in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Demaline is a 2003 graduate of St. Bonaventure (N.Y.) University and 1999 graduate of Magnificat High School in Rocky River. She and her family reside in Avon Lake.
